The Imagine Nation, A Museum Early Learning Center, with the generous support of foundations such as the Barnes Foundation, Liberty Bank Foundation, and others, has many programs available at free or reduced rates that enable families to attend programs they otherwise might not be able to afford.
For example, Imagine Nation is a “Blue Star†museum, which offers free admission to all active duty service members and veterans. Through the “Pinwheel Pass†program, families may access free admission passes from the Bristol Boys & Girls Club, Parent & Child Center at Bristol Hospital, St. Vincent de Paul Shelter, and many other non-profit organizations around town. “We want to open the facility to as many families as we can, so that everyone can experience the joys of learning,†says Doreen Stickney, Museum Administrator. “We do our best to make some free programs available for families each month, so there is an ongoing source of inspiration available to all in the Bristol community.â€
On the second Sunday of each month, Imagine Nation hosts “Sensory Sunday†between 10:00 and 11:00 am especially for children with special needs and their families. In addition to the multisensory interactive exhibits, which invite children to touch, discover, and create, for this special program the museum is modified into a sensory-friendly environment with lowered lighting and sound. Admission to Sensory Sunday is offered at a reduced rate.
