Bristol Central Wins $100,000 Grant

Bristol Central High School was named one of the eleven winners for State Farm’s Insurance “Celebrate my Drive” grant contest! Bristol Central’s “Why Do I Keep 2 Eyes on the Road and 2 Two Hands on the Wheel?” was the ONLY finalist from Connecticut. Not only that but the School’s video was chosen out of over 3,500 applications nationwide! The school, community, and people of Bristol banded together to support Bristol Central and safe teen driving!

BCHS Principal Pete Wininger announced the win for Bristol Central during their annual Pep Rally before the Thanksgiving Day Game. A successful and victorious year for BCHS, bringing home the Thanksgiving Day game Bell and $100,000! According to The Bristol Press,”22% of the grant money will go to safe driving initiatives and 20% for the school’s theater renovation.” They hope to host events and speakers to promote safe driving. In addition, 20% will go towards the Rambassador program(a peer-to-teacher and senior-to-freshman mentor program), 10% for technology improvements, 10% for the new Maroon and White scholarship foundation, 10% for an extracurricular lecture series, and 8% for beautification of school grounds. Bristol is ALL HEART and supports safe teen driving!
