ESPN’s George Bodenheimer Book Signing

April 19, 2016

The Boys & Girls Club of Bristol Family Center are back at it again! The Club strives to “inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need them the most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.” This Saturday, April 23rd from 11 am to 1 pm, they will be hosting a local inspiration, George Bodenheimer, ESPN’s longest-tenured President to inspire our community that hard work and determination can truly help you to achieve your dreams.

“George Bodenheimer, an ESPN and cable industry pioneer and the company’s longest-tenured President, will be doing a book signing, and an inspirational talk followed by a Q&A Session at the Boys & Girls Club of Bristol Family Center’s. From 11:30pm – 12:15pm, George will give an inspirational talk about how he rose through the ranks at ESPN in the Rosa Gatti Community Center. The book signing will be held in the Morrie Laviero Game Room before and after the talk. George’s book, titled “Every Town Is a Sports Town: Business Leadership at ESPN, from the Mailroom to the Boardroom” shares the remarkable story of ESPN’s rise in business and sports. Initially hired to work in the mailroom, one of Bodenheimer’s first jobs was to pick up sportscaster Dick Vitale at the Hartford airport and drive him to ESPN’s main campus–a couple of trailers in a dirt parking lot. But as ESPN grew, so did George’s status in the company. In fact, Bodenheimer played a major part in making ESPN a daily presence not just in Bristol, but all over the world.

In his business leadership memoir–written with bestselling author Donald T. Phillips–Bodenheimer lays out ESPN’s meteoric rise. Business leaders and sports fans alike will not want to miss out on this one of a kind experience to meet this uniquely gifted leader! Copies of George’s book will be for sale during the signing from Shoreline Booksellers for only $28. All book proceeds will benefit The V Foundation for Cancer Research which is on a quest to eradicate the disease.”

Bodenheimer is proof that you can start from the bottom and work your way up. A true inspiration, The Boys & Girls Club of Bristol Family Center, ESPN and Bristol All Heart hope to see you Saturday to be inspired to reach your goals no matter how big they are or where you come from. Just as The Boys & Girls Club of Bristol Family Center says, great futures truly do start here with big dreams!
