Big news from City Hall, the public will have a chance to suggest ideas for a new name for the downtown site known as “Depot Square”, if incase you think it needs a refreshed moniker. Check out all the details below from the Mayor’s Office and scroll down for the survey link!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 3, 2015 –
The Mayor’s Office is pleased to announce that the Bristol Development Authority’s Downtown Committee is exploring the possibility of changing the name of the former Centre Mall downtown site currently known as “Depot Square.†The public is being asked to provide ideas for the potential new designation for the 15-acre site.
“I consider this name to be associated with a development that did not come to fruition,†Mayor Cockayne said. “We’re interested in a fresh start downtown, and that may mean letting go of the ‘Depot Square’ designation.â€
Residents are encouraged to visit www.bristolallheart.com and look for a link to change the downtown site’s name in the “Heartbeat Blog” section. Also, Cockayne noted, those interested in keeping the site’s current moniker will be able to select that option as well. The deadline for submitting ideas is June 3, with the Downtown Committee expected to select a name at its regularly scheduled June 23, 2016 meeting.
Survey closed June 7th, 2016. Thank you to all who participated. Results will be revealed soon!
