The Parent & Child Center at Bristol Hospital is celebrating its 24th Anniversary this year. During the month of April, which is National Child Prevention month, they are conducting their annual Blue Ribbon Campaign for the Prevention of Child Abuse. The primary focus of the Center is on prevention of child abuse, neglect and family violence by providing support systems for families. The Center’s programs are designed to target several areas that have been identified as crucial to developing strong, nurturing families – these programs help parents and caregivers break the cycle of child abuse through positive parenting education, home visiting support and intervention.

Parent Support Center
Families can “drop in” during program hours to discuss struggles and challenges in their lives. Utilizing our Resource Library, parents can:
- find information on an issue encountered with a child
- learn about services available to the community
- obtain referrals to community agencies
- have a “listening ear” from our qualified and skilled staff or volunteers
The Resource Library also includes books and videos that illustrate ideas for dealing with specific child behaviors and parenting issues.
The Caring Closet
The Caring Closet offers basic need items – diapers, wipes, baby food, clothing and other baby items – to low-income clients. The program operates on a first-come, first-served basis. All items are supplied through community donations and may not always be in stock. The Center is open 8 AM to 4 PM Monday through Thursday with limited Friday hours. We do suggest that you call before coming to the center as staff is not always available on-site during these hours.
Caring Closet Hours:
Drop-in hours are available on the following dates/times:
Monday – 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM
Wednesday – 11:30 AM to 1 PM
Special evening hours are available:
Second Wednesday of each month – 5:00PM to 7:00PM
