Since its founding in 1975, the Bristol Auto Club has grown from a single car show and two fundraising events a year to being able to host weekly Cruise Nights in Downtown Bristol from May through October. The Bristol Auto Club is a community-minded nonprofit with the primary goal of developing, encouraging, and maintaining an interest in the automotive hobby. In addition to bringing the hobby of owning and admiring beautiful cars to the All Heart City, the Bristol Auto Club had been a generous supporter of the City of Bristol.
The 2019 Cruise Nights are underway, held every Saturday from May 4 through October 5 starting at 5:00 pm at 430 North Main Street – weather permitting. Attendees enjoy an array of shiny cars from the past and present, good tunes, and free family fun. Car enthusiasts who participate are judged and three awards are given each week. Along with a display of cars from antiques to classics, to current special interest models, there are also raffle prizes, a hula hoop contest for kids, and a 50/50 raffle for attendees to participate in. Alcohol, bikes, and pets are not allowed in order to make this a family-friendly event.
The Bristol Auto Club is a member of the CT Council of Car Clubs, established in 1973, the 4Cs has effectively monitored legislative proposals, informed member clubs, and acted in the best interest of antique, classic and special interest car hobbyists. Currently in their 44th year of bringing car shows to the Bristol Community, the Bristol Auto Club has 40 members and welcomes other car enthusiasts to join them.
