Bell City CrossFit has been Bristol’s only CrossFit gym since 2012. In 2018, co-owners Roland, Nicole, Melissa and Alex took over ownership of Bell City CrossFit in an effort to bring Fitness and Nutrition education to the Bristol community. They are each passionate about health and wellness, and aim to do their part in helping the community overcome chronic disease such as obesity and diabetes.
Their mission is to provide a holistic approach to wellness by offering CrossFit and HIIT / Boot Camp group classes in addition to nutrition consultation, focusing on each Member’s individual goals. Having adopted a healthy lifestyle themselves through consistent, strategic training in addition to The Zone Diet, they are able to offer effective results to each of their Members based on knowledge and first-hand experience.
Small group classes and individual attention allow Bell City’s trained Coaches to get to know each Member by name, understand their strengths, limitations and goals in order to maximize their potential. This is what sets Bell City apart from larger franchises; the individual attention, the support and encouragement of each Member. The BCCF Community is strong (in more ways than one) and welcoming – creating a positive, energetic and fun atmosphere.
Having grown up in Bristol, both Roland and Melissa played varsity sports at Bristol Eastern High School and are focused on giving back to the Bristol Community. Bell City worked with the Bristol Police Department last September, organizing the “K-9 Pursuit” competition at the gym. This event raised $1,000 for Operation Opioid, which helped to fund two new K-9 units for the Bristol Police Department. They hope to partner with other community organizations to help educate people about health and wellness through fitness and nutrition.
Open 7-days a week, Bell City CrossFit caters to all ages from preschoolers to retirees and their coaches are trained to provide modifications or scaling options to individuals based on their current abilities. Eiight Group Classes are offered every weekday from 5:30am to 6:30pm, with showers on site. In addition, Personal Training and Nutrition Consultation is offered providing the right fit for every body, fitness level and busy schedule. Learning how to fit workouts into our busy lives is something that Bell City CrossFit seeks to accommodate by offering 60-minute, total body workouts daily.
All members follow programming developed by Head Coach, Melissa Loranger (aka Coach MeLo), who holds a Doctorate in Physical Therapy and is a licensed Physical Therapist in CT and NY. Coach MeLo is a CrossFit Level 2 Coach, and holds a CrossFit Gymnastics and CrossFit Kids Trainer certificate. The programming is created to merge structure with variability allowing incremental strength and conditioning gains, while allowing the body time to recover and rebuild.
Nutrition Consultation is provided by Coach Nicole Loranger (aka Coach Nickie) who is a Certified Practitioner in The Zone Diet and regularly travels to Massachusetts to meet with Dr. Barry Sears, the creator of The Zone Diet, to continue her education. In addition to educating others on how to fuel their bodies properly, through the use of macros to ensure hormonal balance, Coach Nickie is also a Beauty counter advocate for change within the personal care products industry.
As parents themselves, the owners understand the importance of introducing health and fitness to children at an early age. They also understand the importance of the entire family working together to support each other’s healthy lifestyle habits. To that end, a 6-week Training Camp for Teens and Pre-Teens will be introduced beginning Tuesday, July 9th – geared toward teaching teenagers how to fit exercise into their lives, making it part of a healthy lifestyle. There will also be a CrossFit Preschool program for kids aged 3-5 years old starting in the Fall of 2019.
