Centre Square Plaza
Centre Square will contain a “City Green” or “City Plaza” public gathering space located on roughly one acre of developable land that will remain following private investments on the site. The City has planned for the inclusion of a public gathering area on Centre Square as a destination for community events. However, rather than selecting a location prior to development efforts, the City elected to allow private development the opportunity to secure preferred locations on the site first. Now, following the successful marketing of the site to private industry, it is time for the City to reserve a portion of the site to offer the community a dedicated downtown gathering area for activities such as the City’s popular Farmers Market (which attracts over 1,000 people each Saturday during the season), holiday events such as tree-lighting ceremonies and hot chocolate in the winter, food trucks and family entertainment in the summer, pumpkin festivals in the fall, and more other seasonal events throughout the year. These events will bolster community pride while helping to support private developments on Centre Square as well as downtown businesses nearby.
