As part of our 50th anniversary, the Bristol Historical Society is offering two Scavenger Hunts designed for 3rd and 4th graders, but all ages are encouraged to participate. This hunt is sponsored by the Torrington Savings Bank and is a great family activity!
The “walking” scavenger hunt exclusively covers the Federal Hill area, while the second “driving” hunt features locations around the city.
Copies of the Scavenger Hunts will be available until Saturday, 10/9, at the children’s departments of both the Bristol Public and Manross Libraries; the Bristol branch of Torrington Savings Bank (888 Farmington Avenue); as well as the Historical Society, 98 Summer Street (Wednesdays & Saturdays, 10-2 only). In addition, you can stop by our BHS table at the Mum Festival on Saturday or Sunday, September 25 and 26. If you prefer, email scavengerhunt@bristolhistoricalsociety.org to request forms to print at home.
Answer sheets can be emailed to scavengerhunt@bristolhistoricalsociety.org or dropped off at the Historical Society, 98 Summer St., Bristol (Wednesdays & Saturdays, 10-2 only) by Saturday, 10/9.
All correctly completed entries will be entered into a drawing which includes prizes from the following generous donors: Bell City Diner, Witch’s Dungeon, Bakery on Maple, New England Carousel Museum, Old Sturbridge Village, Mark Twain House, Connecticut Historical Society, Lutz Children’s Museum, and Roaring Brook Nature Center.
Winners will be notified by phone no later than October 12th.
This is a great way to explore and learn about Bristol’s history while sharing memories with your children or grandchildren!
