Who is Jumpin’ Joey?
Joey is a seven year old child, living in Bristol, CT. Joey is courageous child who fights thru the effects of Common Variable Immune Deficiency (CVID), Food Protein-Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome (FPIES), Environmental & Food Allergies, Asthma, and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) every day. These disorders all are identified as Rare Diseases. Despite all the chronic life threatening illnesses he has, Joey has always been a high energy, bouncy, happy child. He earned his nick name “Jumpin’ Joey” as a toddler when he first learned to bounce. He hasn’t stopped Jumpin’ since!
What is a Teal Pumpkin Party?
Joey’s Teal Pumpkin Party, is a unique Halloween themed event open to children who are in grades pre-k-8 within the town of Bristol, CT. Our goal is to show families that trick or treating can include children with food allergies, (and other rare diseases), in a safe, fun, and affordable way. Candy does not need to be eliminated. Adding affordable non-food toys, and novelties, placed in a separate bowl for those who cannot eat candy is a simple way to include everyone on Halloween.
At The Party:
Children will trick or treat thru a walking path, stopping along the way at Treat Stations. Each treat station will have a Halloween Inflatable, and a volunteer will hand out a “treat” to each child. The majority of the treats will be non-food items such as pencils, erasers, small toys, etc. A few will have candy treats.
Once Children have completed the Treat Trail, they can stop at Carrot Alley Craft Area, to make some festive crafts.
Families may also have dinner by purchasing food from one of the Food Trucks, which will be at the event. Food will be a separate charge paid directly to the Food Truck.
What is Jumpin’ Joey’s Journey?
Jumpin’ Joey’s Journey, is a 501(c)3 charity, on a mission to create fun events throughout the year so rare disease pediatric patients and their families can create happy memories outside of the medical setting. These events will serve as the platform for us to also spread awareness, and education for rare disease.

How will the money raised be used?
Proceeds from Joey’s Teal Pumpkin Party will be donated to our Joey’s Family Retreat Program which is scheduled to launch Summer of 2019. We plan to send families in Connecticut that have children who battle rare diseases on small cost-free camping trips.
