Presented by Tom Kelleher, Historian & Curator of Mechanical Arts, Old Sturbridge Village. 7:00 p.m. August 17th
According to Kelleher, the United States was far from being the largest or richest country in the world in the early 19th century, but its postal service was already the biggest on the planet. He will examine the early American mail system, its significance and how it worked. This will include a look at how a letter went from sender to addressee in the early 1800’s.
Light refreshments will be served.
