Come celebrate National Stamp Collecting month at the Bristol Historical Society Museum. On display will be several philatelic items mailed from or to Bristol from the 1840s to recent times. Display items include stampless covers, early hand-canceled covers, business correspondence, advertising covers, war correspondence and a lot more. The display can be viewed Wednesday, October 27 or Saturday October 30 from 10 to 2pm, or by appointment.
At 7 pm on Thursday October 28 member and stamp collector Steve Vastola will give a presentation on several aspects of philately related to Bristol. Doors will open at 5 pm to allow attendees to view the display before the presentation.
Stamp collecting is a great hobby where you can learn about all kinds of topics such as history, culture, geography and art and more. There will be material available at the museum about stamp collecting, as well as lots of free stamps for any children who visit the display or attend the presentation. There will also be free stuff from the American Philatelic Society for adults and children.
