Join us on Zoom as we explore the magnificent estates and mansions of Long Island’s “Gold Coast” that are believed to have inspired The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.* Led by Gary Lawrance of Lawrance Architectural Presentations in Stony Brook, New York, the program will include aerial photos circa 1926, as well as archival photos showcasing the interiors of the mansions. An architect and historian, Mr. Lawrance will share his extensive knowledge of the Gilded Age. A Q &A session will follow. Advance registration is required for this program and the book discussion. *A book discussion of Fitzgerald’s classic novel from 1925 will take place the week before, on Thursday, April 22nd, at 6:30 pm. To be held via Zoom, the discussion will be led by the Supervisor of Branch Services , F.N. Manross Memorial Library. 860-584-7790.
