Promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace and community

The Diversity Council strives to enhance the appreciation for and understanding of the value of diversity and inclusion. Helping to promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace and community, develop leaders who are educated and aware of all aspects of diversity and inclusion and to develop programs that support diversity education and awareness.

Misson

The Diversity Council will engage the community of Bristol as ambassadors of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Vision

To cultivate an environment that embraces multi-cultural differences in a welcoming and open space.

Purpose

Our purpose is to engage with the Bristol community and City Departments and create awareness, access, and opportunities that will support an inclusive environment for all Bristol residents and business owners.

Objectives

  • Connect with the residents and business owners of Bristol to provide them opportunities to voice their experiences
  • Coordinate with City Departments and staff on justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion best practices they should be considering when making decisions
  • Identify inequities in City policies and procedures and coordinate with City leaders to dismantle systemic barriers
  • Create opportunities for cultural awareness and bringing the community together to celebrate diversity

If you would like to participate in our monthly meetings, email diversitycouncil@bristolct.gov to receive the Zoom link. Public participation begins at 6:40 pm at every meeting.
